A look at the ICE arrests shows far too many productive, working people trying to get by in the US and not so many real, violent criminals. In fact, many people arrested by ICE are US citizens who happen to be Hispanic. Even a valid green card is not saving the arrestees. While most of the citizens falsely arrested have been released, it establishes the real motives of ICE. Instead of protecting us by concentrating on terrorists and criminals, ICE is rounding up peaceful, working Hispanics. The actions of ICE are supporting a white supremacist agenda, and it might be worse.
The US fertility rate is now at 1.6 children per woman and lower than the replacement rate of 2.1 children per woman. Except for the recent immigration numbers, the US population is in decline, and our future workforce is in peril. The loss of immigrant workers will not be replaced by US citizens that don’t exist. Without a growing population, our capitalist-based economy could destabilize and collapse. It turns out that the mass deportation of Hispanics and other non-citizens is serving no purpose and is most likely counter productive.
Instead of deporting productive members of our society, wouldn’t it make more sense to just make them US citizens after a reasonable period of time? Our future could depend on them.
